My name is Charlie. I am 20 years old. The past 3 years I have been homeless. What I experienced is painful and no money every day. The past 3 years I have tried all my best to look for a job, but I am not always in the mood. To be fair, I tried all kind of jobs like mover, cleaner, stacking and also street sweeper. These are hard and not an easy way to earn a lot of money, but when you try it out you know how worth it, it is.

After being homeless for 3 years, I heard about a place called Directions. It’s not a place where you can sleep, but it’s a place you can get warm and have a good meal. The front desk is VERY FRIENDLY and they are also very helpful.

In Directions you can get most of the supports you need and there is also a program called SYJA (Street Youth Job Action). It’s a good place to have a little job income from somewhere when you need it. Also, there’s a media room happening every day, except weekends. A place that is working with Electronic Arts and also a recording room for everyone who wants to rap, record or sing a song for yourself.

I’ve been in Directions for years and I’m working in SYJA and LIT  (Leadership In Training) program. To be honest, it’s not easy, but it’s actually worth it for me.

I really like Directions because they did help me with my housing things and everyone is friendly and awesome!!

Thanks for the help!! 🙂
